Microsoft Exchange Error when a user is disabled
Problem: When a user account is disabled we are getting an error in the evernt viewer which is not good to see. Error looks like this:
Event Type: Warning
Event Source: MSExchangeIS
Event Category: General
Event ID: 9548
Date: 11/3/2000
Time: 4:24:54 PM
User: N/A
Computer:
Description:
Disabled user /o=Microsoft/ou=AdminGroup/cn=Recipients/cn=Alias does not have a master account SID. Please use Active Directory MMC to set an active account as this user’s master account.
Now solution is simple but takes time to search… After doing a search for a while I got the answer which is nothing but this KB article: kb278966
Resolution: If you disable a mailbox-enabled widnows account. you need to grant the Associated ExternalAccount and Full Mailbox Access permissions to SELF on the disable account. Steps are very simple just follow the steps given in the KB article found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/278966.
